Ava Ferrera is an award-winning indie director and writer based in Madeira Island, Portugal. Her most recent short documentary Echoes of the Past received international recognition, winning the Gold Award at the Hollywood Gold Awards, as well as Best Short Documentary at both the Florence Film Awards and the Paris Film Awards. Including official selections in France, Japan and South Korea film festivals.
She is currently developing new projects across experimental, drama, thriller, horror, comedy, and is seeking dedicated actors and skilled crew members to collaborate on upcoming productions in Portugal and abroad. She also works with brands for commercial and editorials projects.

Independent Film Statement
All Ava Ferrera productions are independently produced. As with many independent films, securing full funding is not always guaranteed, and not every project moves forward into paid production. By submitting as an actor or crew member, you acknowledge that opportunities may vary between volunteer collaboration, low-budget participation, and funded professional work depending on the project’s resources. We work endlessly to always try to secure funding and financial backing.
We are seeking collaborators who share a genuine passion for cinema and are open to being part of the creative process, even when financial backing is uncertain and/or not possible. While we strive to secure support and compensation wherever possible, we value honesty and transparency in acknowledging the realities of independent filmmaking.
